At our house, there's an abundance of opportunities for lending a helping hand, and we're excited to collaborate with you in customizing volunteer assignments to align with your schedule and preferences. Whether you're joining us as a group, a family, a civic organization, or a business, your assistance is highly valued and appreciated by both our guests and staff. Below, you'll find some suggested activities tailored for groups or individuals interested in making a difference at The Ballard House.

  1. Our volunteers, play a vital role as receptionists and first impressionists. They quickly become adept at greeting everyone with a warm, 'Welcome to the Ballard House.' Wranglers also handle phone calls, assist with guest check-ins and check-outs, and serve as knowledgeable tour guides.

  2. Join us during specific times of the year to lend a hand in the yard. Tasks include planting flowers, weeding, and mulching beds. Bring your work gloves and tools; unfortunately, we don't have sufficient supplies for entire groups.

  3. Our house thrives with a little extra tender loving care. This role is invaluable for maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, ensuring a positive first impression for everyone who enters.

  4. Help us keep our pantry stocked by organizing a 'paper party' or challenging your group with the TP Challenge. We're in constant need of items like tissue, paper towels, paper napkins, and toilet paper (approximately 50 rolls a week). Click to check out our regularly updated list of supplies.

  5. If you love to cook and serve, consider cooking your favorite recipes with your family and friends and serve dinner to our guests. Our guests always appreciate a home-cooked meal.

  6. Versatile Volunteers: This dynamic task force takes on any and every task around the Ballard House. From watering plants and making beds to cleaning out the refrigerator or pantry, filing, and making copies—these friendly floaters tackle it all with a skip in their step and a smile on their face.
